I had to look up the difference between cruets and ewers. Here is the official dictionary word on the subject, ewers are small and round, therefore these are ewers and not cruets. Now aren't you glad that's now been straightened out!
These ewers are mostly unglazed and colored solely from the flame and ash of the firing, all ewers are glazed on the spout and on the interior.
